MEET SCOUT

The Dog Who'll Steal Your Heart

Scout is a 4-year-old Australian Labradoodle With a Huge Heart.

Life changes mean I sadly need to find a new home for my beloved Scout. This decision wasn’t easy, but our upcoming move and health changes mean he deserves a home that can give him more space and time.

Scout is that once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog. He is gentle, goofy, affectionate, and loyal to the core. He’s 55 pounds of love who’d happily be a lap dog if you let him. He’s great with children, wonderfully gentle with our toddler grandbaby, and happiest when he’s included in everyday family life.

At home, Scout is calm and easy to live with. He spends most of the day lounging close to his people but still bursts into joyful outdoor sprints that sound like the beat of horse hoofs. He loves swimming, fishing, car rides with the window down, and quiet companionship.

Scout’s Best Qualities

  • Deeply loyal and affectionate

  • Gentle with kids and patient with family life

  • Calm indoors with fun, playful bursts of energy

  • Enjoys swimming and new adventures

  • Easy to groom, minimal shedding, and good for baths or haircuts

Scout is Smart

Scout knows a fun list of cues. He will happily perform the following commands (among others):

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Stay

  • Place

  • Shake

  • Speak

  • Beg

  • Recall

  • Sneeze (his sneeze is actually more like a humph but he tries!)

Personality

True to his nickname “Goober,” Scout’s goofy charm and expressive face make everyone smile. He can be shy with strangers and initially reactive toward unfamiliar dogs, but with calm introductions and a little patience, he warms up beautifully, especially if treats are involved. He aims to please and thrives with clear, gentle direction.

Scout mild anxiety issues and takes a daily, affordable SSRI (Fluoxetine) that helps manage his anxiety. He does great when left at home for a few hours and prefers being uncrated when alone. When his people are home, he enjoys relaxing quietly in his crate and has no problem sleeping in it at night. He’s currently working with a professional trainer for his anxiety and continues to make wonderful progress.

Ideal Home for Scout

  • Someone home most of the day

  • A calm, predictable environment

  • A patient person or family who understands (or is open to learning about) supporting mild anxiety

  • Ideally no other dogs, unless introductions can be managed thoughtfully

In return, Scout will offer everything: unwavering loyalty, a gentle spirit, and love that fills your home.

Adoption Details

  • Scout can meet prospective adopters in the Roberta, GA area or Tampa, FL area.

We are willing to drive some distance to meet a long distance adopter if we feel it the perfect home for him.

  • A rehoming fee of $300 will apply to help ensure Scout is placed thoughtfully and responsibly.

  • The rehoming fee includes his crate, starter food, two months of Simparica Trio (flea, tick, and heartworm prevention) and more.

  • Scout is fully up to date on all vaccinations including a three year Rabies vaccination.

If you think you might be the right match, please reach out. I’d love to tell you more about this remarkable boy.
